(from Sports Business Journal, September 23, 2013) There have been many changes to the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York in the past year. Signed retail contracts, improvements to current venue aesthetics and the opening of a second team store have all been contributing factors. Along the outside of the building, Let’s Yo!, a local frozen yogurt company, has recently signed the final available retail hub in the arena. Joining Lets Yo! is a candy store that signed a deal earlier in 2012. An unnamed second team store is also opening this coming season. While the second team store is to be smaller than the original by over 1000-square feet, they both are to be operated by Adidas, and the second store will focus on selling lifestyle sports apparel primarily by Mitchell & Ness says Nets CEO Brett Yorkman. On the inside of the area, the arena developer is investing over $1 million to improve the current clubs and lounges including but not limited to redone wood and tile flooring. Many restaurants, including Levy, are expanding the menu with new items as well as new vendors. This year the amount of vendors has increased to 55 as apposed to the 37 last season. Many of these changes have begun this week, and all the new retail and dining areas are to be opened by the first game this season on November 1st against Miami.
